What should the ideal geometry box look like?

A geometry box can be defined as a set of academic tools that are assembled in a box. They are assembled in such a way that you have every basic need for mathematics, technology, technical drawings, and so on. They can also be used for art purposes.

A lot of geometry boxes are in the market these days. We have brands like Oxford, Classmate Asteroid, Faber-Castel, and so on. Below are some of the things that every geometry box should have.

Compass: No, not the navigation tool, a pair of compasses (because of its two legged nature) otherwise simply known as a compass is an instrument known for drawing circles and arcs. It has one pointy leg and another that allows space for a pencil. They can be substituted for dividers in cases where a divider is not available. Compasses have a large variety of uses. They include navigation, drafting, construction of angles, as well as other mathematical purposes. There are different types of compasses. Geometry box items include the beam compass, the scribe compass, the sector and the loose leg wing divider. It is often made of plastic and metal and has the following components

  • Needle point (to ensure it doesn’t shift on paper)
  • Adjusting nut
  • Legs
  • Hinge
  • Handle

Pencils: This is the backbone of best geometry box. Other tools like the compass will be useless without the presence of a pencil. It is made of lead which inscribes lines and scribbles onto paper. They come in different types but the most important one for a geometry box is the HB pencil – a long one and a short one. Some geometry boxes come with replacement leads in order to create a backup plan in case of breakage. It also comes with an eraser that helps to correct mistakes but we’ll handle that next.

Eraser: This stationery item is the fixer of a pencil’s mistakes. It is used for removing marks that aren’t supposed to be existent from paper. It has a rubber-like consistency and comes in different colors, shapes and sizes. Some pencils have an eraser attached at the bottom.

Pen: A pen is a tool commonly used to apply ink imprints on paper by writing or drawing. Unlike a pencil which uses lead, a pen uses ink and cannot be easily and simply erased. If one makes a mistake with a pen, a special ink eraser or a correction pen. It comes in different colors and types such as

Protractor: A protractor is a transparent instrument, usually made of plastic or glass that can be used for measuring angles. A geometry box protractor should be 180 degrees worth in measurement and should read angles in degrees not radians like radian scale protractors do.

Set Square: A set square is a triangle object that aims at giving a straight edge at a right angle. The simplest type of set square is a triangle with the middle part absent. Some geometry boxes have two types.

Ruler: This is a measuring tool famous for its straight nature and measuring marks. It is used to rule lines and take measurements.

Sharpener: This has one use; it is used to sharpen the edges of a pencil.
